No going back on lawmaker recall ―Ondo APC youth

YOUTHS from Idanre /Ifedore Federal Constituency of Ondo State, on Tuesday began the process of recalling the lawmaker representing the area at the House of Representatives, Mr Bamidele Baderinwa, saying there is no going back on the plan to recall the lawmaker.

The youths alleged the lawmaker of abandoning the people of the constituency and also accused to have failed in bringing the dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of the people of the constituency.

The youths under the auspices of Idanre /Ifedore Youth Coalition said they have consulted with the voters in the constituency who have shown their readiness to recall the federal lawmaker.

The coordinator of the youths, Adeyemi Alabi, explained that two registers had been opened for the voters at two venues in Idanre and Ifedore local government areas of the state, disclosing that voters in Idanre Local Government would gather at Owena town while voters from Ifedore Local Government would converge at a centre in Igbara Oke for the exercise.

Alabi declared that the youths of the federal constituency were determined to lead the struggle saying over 30 youths have been posted to different wards in the two local governments within the constituency to sensitize the people on the need to participate in the exercise.

According to him, a house to house sensitization had begun since last week, stressing that the people of the constituency were ready to remove the lawmaker.

He said “As you can see, we are set for the process of recalling our representative at the Federal House of Representatives, Baderinwa Bamidele, must be recalled. This is democracy at work, and we are happy that we are taking solace in the beauty of democracy, we have lost confidence in Baderinwa, so he must go.

“Mr Bamidele has performed woefully, compared to the likes of Afe Olowokere of the Akure South/North Federal Constituency and the rest. Bamidele has not impacted positively in the lives of the people of our constituency”.

However, the APC youth leader in the Ifedore Local Government, Mr Adewale Adekunle has maintained that there was nothing like recalling the lawmaker by the constituents, saying no such exercise took place in any of the two local governments.

Adekunle who described the IYC as a faceless group said the people of the constituency were satisfied with the achievements of Baderinwa and there was no reason to recall him.

“We wish to state clearly that Bamidele Baderinwa has not defaulted on giving our constituency its deserved quality representation at the National Assembly. He has neither abandoned his people nor the constituency, “he said.
