No endorsement for Yoruba Nation petition in UK — FG

The Federal Government has clarified that the United Kingdom has not endorsed the Yoruba Nation petition submitted to 10 Downing Street by Sunday Igboho, reassuring Nigerians that the UK respects the country’s sovereignty.

A statement from the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Eche Abu-Obe, disclosed that the British High Commissioner in Abuja addressed the controversy, stating that press reports were misleading and that the UK government does not involve itself with petitions concerning another country’s internal affairs.

He added that the delivery of the petition was an established practice, not an endorsement.
