A fire outbreak at Pinnacle Filling Station along Agbani Road in Enugu was swiftly brought under control early Friday morning, September 20, 2024, with no casualties reported.
The combined efforts of federal and state fire services were key in containing the blaze shortly after it erupted.
In a statement, Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed that although no injuries occurred, three vehicles in the queue to purchase fuel were damaged. Authorities have since restored normalcy to the area.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire may have been caused by a fuel leak from one of the vehicles at the station.
Commissioner of Police, Kanayo Uzuegbu, who was present at the scene, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), to conduct a full investigation into the incident.
The probe aims to determine the exact cause of the fire and ascertain whether negligence or foul play was involved.
The Enugu State Police Command has assured the public that the investigation will be thorough and swift.
