The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, has reassured Nigerians of the functionality of the Port Harcourt Refinery, emphasizing that it is fully operational and producing products.
Kyari on Wednesday reiterated NNPCL’s commitment to reviving Nigeria’s refining capacity and dismissed doubts about the refinery’s performance.
“The Port Harcourt refinery is not fantasy. It is real. We know where it is coming from. The plant is running. As we speak now, loading is ongoing. It is producing products as we speak now. We are sending these products to the markets soon,” Kyari said.

The NNPCL boss also highlighted the corporation’s ongoing efforts to restore other refineries across the country, assuring Nigerians that these facilities will soon be operational.
“Speaking of other refineries, it is not street talk. I am inviting you to see the other refineries. They will work. Blending is part of refinery operations. There is no refinery that does not blend. Gasoline is a mixture of chemicals,” he explained.
Kyari appealed to Nigerians to support the efforts of NNPCL and avoid undermining its achievements.
“Let us see NNPC as the company that belongs to all of us. We should not demarket it. I can confirm to you that we are working for you,” he stated.
