NIWA redeploys, recalls 14 Area Managers in major shake up

THE National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) on Wednesday announced the redeployment of four Area Managers while ten others were recalled back to the agency’s headquarters in Lokoja,

According to a statement signed on Wednesday by the agency’s Spokesman, Tayo Fadile, “the redeployment and new appointments were made by the Managing Director of the agency, Dr Adeleke Olorunnimbe Mamora in a move to foster better service delivery, optimum performance and efficiency.

“The decision was taken at the Management meeting held recently at the Headquarters of NIWA in Lokoja, Kogi State.

“Ten senior officers were appointed as new Area Managers, four were redeployed to other Area Offices, seven retained their positions and nine were recalled back to the Headquarters.

“The ten new Area Managers are Tom Shaba Afeso, Warri; Engr. Fidelis Agbahi, Onitsha; Akapo Adewale, Igbokoda; Ogbue Jude, Oguta; Zainab Ali, Lokoja; Idris U. Abubakar, Makurdi; Akintade Akinlabi, Obeokuta; Shaibu Al-Hayatt, Abuja; Ajagbe Peter, Yola; and Abba John Martins, Jalingo.

“The four redeployed Area Managers are Akubo Boniface, Calabar; Henry Adimoha, Yenagoa; Rufus Ogbolato, Port-Harcourt; and Kabir Danjuma, Hadeija Jammare.

“The ten recalled Area Managers are Engr T. Fiberesima, General Manager, Business Development; Mrs Uche Amadi, Ag. General Manager, Business Development; Abdullahi Dabai, Headquarters; Engr Daniel Ogbe, Headquarters; Mr Raymon Olekwara, Headquarters; Engr Dakio Horsefall, Headquarters; Dalhatu Isa, Headquarters; Danladi Umar, Headquarters; Danladi Bisalla, Headquarters; and Engr Samuel T. Gadzama, Ag. General Manager, Special Duties & Project Management.”

Despite the sweeping changes, seven Area Managers retained their position within the agency. They are Sambo Muazu, Lagos; Sagir Adamu, Eket; Birma Yusuf, Kaduna; Abubakar Wathanafa, Minna; Gonaji Suleiman, Yelwa-Yauri; Dahiru Yimird, Maiduguri; and Bala Bello Mohammed, Sokoto.

“The Managing Director said the new posting is an attempt not only to put the round pegs in the round holes, but the officers were carefully selected to enhance the operational efficiency of the Authority and also strengthen the revenue drive and provide better service delivery to all the relevant stakeholders nationwide. The appointment is with immediate effect,” the agency added.
