NITDA urges Nigeria to upgrade archaic machines to digital

Published by

THE National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) says the country needs to upgrade from archaic machines used 20 years ago as they cannot stand in the modern digital age.

Dr Isa Ibrahim, the Director-General of the agency said this in a statement by the Head, Corporate Affairs and External Relations, the Mrs Hadiza Umar on Friday in Abuja.

Ibrahim spoke during the donation of a Digital Capacity Building Centre (DCBC) to the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) headquarters in Abuja.

He said that the country needed to upgrade machines to be at par with modern technology, especially for information  communication as the world had gone digital.

He said that the centre was therefore established to boost the capacity of the management and staff of the NTA for effective and modern communication.

The D-G said that the centre would enhance the quality of their production to meet with modern standards.

“NTA has to go with the world best practice to make its staff relevant and updated.

“Besides upgrading, the centre has the capacity to train the staff with the availability of e-learning application, server and wireless internet connectivity.

“This will allow for access to different educational materials that will be useful for their development,” he said.

Ibrahim, however, said that the agency had the regulatory mandate of enforcing government information technology projects which required publicity.

According to him, NTA will enable the agency achieve the purpose, hence the need to equip it.
