Director-General, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Inuwa Abdullahi has tasked Nigerian youths on evolving solutions, driven towards building a digital Nigeria.
In particular, Abdullahi challenged talented Nigerians to come up with clearly defined ideas and prototypes on solutions around Agriculture, Logistics and Security.
Abdullahi gave this charge at the SouthWest Hackathon of NITDA themed: “Innovation-Driven Ideas for Addressing Local Challenges in Agriculture, Security and Logistics” held at the University of Ibadan, on Thursday.
Represented by Dr Salihu Abdulkarim, the NITDA DG said it was expedient for Nigerians to be creative and develop unique solutions, using the latest technology such as Artificial Intelligence, to develop solutions to problems facing the country.

Abdullahi assured that NITDA was committed to creating a platform where our youths can leverage the academic research ecosystem to solve national challenges using technology.
He further assured that the NITDA will continue to strengthen the technological entrepreneurship ecosystem by boosting the entrepreneurship spirit among our youths.
Thursday’s hackathon featured nine groups with Abdulkadi Hashim and Oyedele Yusuf of ‘team C-Credit”, which developed technological solutions for farmers, emerging winner of the grand prize of N1.5million.
Bryon Neji and Akinribido Bosede of team Green A1” emerged first runner-up and got N1million as a prize while Olayemi Akangbe and Olalekan Abduroheem won N500,000 as second runner-up.
Giving his remarks, Vice-Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode Adebowale charged Nigerian youths to keep leveraging on technology to locally solve the nation’s problems.
Represented by Professor Peter Olapegba, the Vice-Chancellor stressed that the nation continued to look up to the youths for innovation and to help move the nation from analogue to digital.
Judges at the event including Mr Emeka Ossai and Mr David Afolayan charged universities to constantly have hackathons as platforms where people can generate ideas and be problem solvers.
