The Controller of Immigration in Oyo State, Mrs Victoria E. Isang, has enjoined newly promoted officers in her command to put in more efforts into their jobs that would be commensurate to their new ranks.
She also said that they should see their promotion as a challenge to do more, while they should seek new information that would be relevant to their duties within the service towards effective performance.
Mrs Isang stated this on Tuesday during the decoration of Immigration officials who were recently promoted to new ranks which took place at the state headquarters at Agodi GRA in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The ceremony was graced by the heads of security agencies in Oyo State such as the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Customs Service, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), The Nigeria Prisons Service and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
The Controller pointed out that with the change mantra of the present current administration in Nigeria, Immigration officials must be seen to be up and doing, as this is the only means through which they could reach the peak of their careers.
She also encouraged others that sat for the promotion interview but had yet to be promoted, assuring them that the Comptroller General of Immigration had informed that the next promotion interview would come up on or before February 2017.
Those decorated were 91 officials, including two Deputy Controllers, five Assistant Controllers, 12 Chief Superintendents, one Superintendent and 12 Deputy Superintendents, among others.
Among those decorated were the state Public Relations Officer, Olufemi Adetunji, who was promoted to the rank of a Deputy Superintendent of Immigration.
In his goodwill message, the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr John Adewoye admonished the promoted officers to adopt the ‘change’ slogan of the current administration and effect a change in their jobs, saying “the Federal Government expects optimum performance from you.”
