NIPR appoints Nkwocha as chairman, energy hub management committee

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has appointed Dr Jossy Nkwocha, Group Head of Corporate Communications at Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals and Fertilizer Group, Port Harcourt, as the Chairman of the Institute’s Energy Hub Management Committee.

Announcing the appointment, the Chairman of the National Council of NIPR and President of the Institute, Dr. Ike Neliaku, said Dr. Nkwocha, a distinguished Fellow of the Institute, will lead a four-member committee carefully selected to achieve the objectives of establishing the Energy Hub, which is based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Other members of the committee include Rev. Francis Asuk of Shell Petroleum, who will serve as Secretary, along with Rev. Sola Adebawo, formerly of Chevron, and Lola Oyenekan, both veterans of the upstream energy sector.

The NIPR President, who inaugurated the committee via Zoom on August 29, 2024, also inaugurated five other hubs and their respective management committees.

These include the Finance Hub, chaired by Rasheed Bolarinwa, President of the Association of Communication and Marketing Professionals in Banks (ACAMB); Mrs. Thelma Okoh, National Council member, as Chair of the Maritime Hub; and Mr. Basil Agboarumi, Managing Director of SAHCOL, to head the Aviation Hub, all of which are based in Lagos.

The NIPR also appointed Dr. Ahmad Sajoh to lead the Anti-Corruption and Consumer Protection Hub and Miss Chimdi Neliaku to head the NIPR Young Practitioners’ Hub, both domiciled in Abuja.

Dr. Neliaku stated that the creation of the hubs aims to deepen the practice of public relations in these sectors and foster sustainable relationships with key stakeholders, benefiting both the Institute and the sectors.

The letters of appointment for the chairpersons and committee members, along with their terms of reference, were dated August 26, 2024, and signed by Chief Uzoma Onyegbadue, the NIPR Registrar and Secretary of the Governing Council.
