Nipco plc, an integrated oil and gas company, has for the umpteenth time emerged the best Health Safety and Environment (HSE) compliant operator in the hydrocarbon industry within the Lagos Port Complex (LPC).
In the same vein, the company’s Managing Director, Sanjay Teotia, has also been honoured with a platinum award for his outstanding contributions in the area of health, safety and environment (HSE) in 2019.
The awards and recognitions which formed the fulcrum of the Annual Health, Safety & Environment Awards and Lecture of the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) at a ceremony organised to appreciate the corporate and individual contributions to maintenance of safe and healthy environment in the Lagos port complex.
Nipco plc won the platinum award having performed excellently in the areas of health, safety and environmental upkeep within its terminal in 2019 as adjudged by the HSE committee of the port complex.
The LPC comprising stakeholders in the hydrocarbon industry considered reports from a committee which went round all operators within the complex to ascertain their levels of compliance to safety rules as well as ensuring a healthy environment in their various operations.
The company’s roles outside its operational areas were also applauded as the award committee recalled several efforts by the organisation in providing support to other organis ations during incidents in a conscious move to ensure overall safety of human and material resources at all times.
Presenting the awards, Lagos Port Complex Manager, Mrs Bolanle Olotu, said the event was part of the focal policy of the ports authority management to stimulate good HSE among operators having direct relationship with the ports.
She stressed that the awardees were found deserving for their uncommon contributions to maintaining safety in their areas of operations noting that the recognitions would spur others to emulate them in the overall interest of all stakeholders in the maritime and hydrocarbon industry.
Nipco has remained a consistent winner of the HSE awards since the commencement in 2013.
Reacting to the honor, Sanjay said he is elated as the awards will not only motivate him to continue to accord safety the preeminence it required in the overall operations of the company but also be its adherence at all times .
The awards were received on behalf of the company by DGM/HR, John Okpeku and AGM Corporate Affairs, Lawal Taofeek.
