Harmattan haze
THE Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted moderate dust haze weather conditions over the central States of the country on Thursday.
NiMet gave the prediction in its Weather Outlook by the Central Forecast Office on Wednesday in Abuja.
It also predicted that the region would have day and night temperature of 31 to 39 degrees Celsius and 14 to 24 degrees Celsius respectively.
The agency predicted southern states would experience isolated morning thunderstorms over Ado-Ekiti, Akure, Abeokuta and its environs with cloudiness over the inland of the south-east and the coast.
It also predicted partly cloudy conditions over the inland and cloudiness over the coastal cities during the afternoon and evening hours with day and night temperatures of 32 to 36 and 22 to 24 degrees Celsius respectively.
According to NiMet, northern states will be under moderate dust haze conditions with thick dust haze in the next 24 hours over Kano, Nguru, Dutse, Potiskum, Maiduguri and Damaturu.
“Northern states will also have day and night temperature values in the range of 31 to 39 and 14 to 24 degrees Celsius respectively.
“Fresh Dust has been raised and is expected to keep the northern cities under moderate dust haze conditions with places like Kano, Nguru, Dutse, Potiskum, Maiduguri and Damaturu experiencing thick dust haze.
“Isolated thunderstorms are anticipated around the inland cities of the south-west in the next 24 hours,” NiMet predicted.
