NIMET donates N100m Automated Research Centre to IBBU

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) has  donated an automated research centre estimated  at N100million  to Ibrahim Badamasi  Babangida University Lapai in Niger State.

The deputy director of the agency, Dr Mansur Matazu said the IBBU Lapai is the first university in Nigeria to benefit with a research centre by the agency  amongst the other learning institutions in the country.

He said the research centre, if utilised effectively would enable the university to forecast weather development within Niger State and other states within the North Central part of Nigeria accurately.

Dr Matazu stated this during the commissioning of the automated meteorological centre of the IBBU Lapai at the university on Friday as part of the university’s pre convocation activities.

The vice chancellor of the university, Professor, Mohammed Nasiru  Maiturare while expressing appreciation for the kind gesture to the university by NIMET,  urged  organisations and research centres in the country  to always partner with universities in Nigeria for research development so as to make positive impact on their immediate communities and beyond through research development and innovations efforts.

The Niger State-owned university, named after a former military president of Nigeria General Ibrahim Babangida graduated over 6,000 undergraduates and post graduate students on Saturday at its convocation auditorium of the main campus of the institution in Lapai.
