‘Nigeria’s AFAC to go global in 2018’

Plans are underway to make t`he African Arts and Craft Expo (AFAC) which commences on August 27, 2017, an intercontinental event starting with the 2018 edition.

The Director-General of the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), Chief Segun Runsewe made the announcement while playing host to cultural attachés from over 20 countries at a pre-AFAC dinner held at the Sheraton Hotels and Towers, Abuja, recently.

The outing which was an opportunity for the foreign guests to savour the best of Nigerian cuisine and culture, was also used by the NCAC boss to announce his intentions of giving the AFAC a new and enriching outlook in 2018.

Speaking during the dinner, Runsewe noted that the next edition of AFAC will accommodate countries from around the world showcasing their unique cultures just like he noted his preference for hosting the event at the early part of next year when the weather is dry and more favourable.

Runsewe promised a landmark innovation in subsequent editions of AFAC, starting from next year aimed at making the flagship Expo bigger, better and truly the pride of Nigeria by way of projecting her culture and the living arts to the world.

The event displayed the best of Nigeria’s rich delicacies, cultural presentations and dance from the NCAC cultural troupe.

The highpoint of the evening was the special presentation by Runsewe of NCAC-branded pouches and pin-ups to each of the foreign attachés from Russia, Japan, Brazil, Austria and Cuba.

Others were cultural Attachés from Mali, Spain, Morocco, Uganda, China, Ethiopia, Switzerland, Kenya and many others.
