Nigerians charged to support motherless children, people living with disabilities

Published by

The need for Nigerians to give to people living with disabilities, motherless children and the less privileged has been stressed.

Principal, Vincy Froebel Model School, Ibadan, Mrs Ayeni Olunike stressed this when she led staff and children of the school to donate various edibles and other household items to students of House of Providence Special School for children with intellectual disabilities and the Ibadan home for Motherless babies, both in Ibadan.

Handing over the items, Ayeni explained that the gesture was aimed at making children imbibe the need to be sympathetic and empathetic towards special children and less privileged, from their early years.

Especially noting that the Christmas season demanded a show of love, Morakinyo tasked both individuals and organisations to be always keen on supporting the less privileged within their environment.

Speaking in the same vein, head of the school, Mrs Mudasiru Damilola said the children were made to visit the Ibadan home for Motherless babies for them to appreciate God for their having both fathers and mothers.

Mudasiru added that the visits were also to show the less privileged that they are part of the society and not, in any way, seen as outcasts.

Stressing that the giving hand is a blessed hand, Mudasiru held that the best way to appreciate God for the existence of even the less privileged is by donating to and supporting them to achieve their dreams in life.

Coordinator, House of Providence Special School, Mr Adesina Ayobami was full of appreciation for the gesture from Vincy Froebel School.

He noted that such donations were important in taking care of children with intellectual disabilities.

He decried that donations and visits to such special homes come sparingly, urging Nigerians to identify more with people in need.

The donation was flavoured with children with cerebral palsy, autism, down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities rejoicing with their visitors as well as praying for them.

The event saw the visitors and host render Christmas songs, accompanied by dancing, and prayers.
