Nigerian youths have been urged to engage in anti-corruption crusade across the country in order to become role models in the fight against corruption to develop the country.
The call was made by the Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, Arc Sanusi Gumau on Monday at a One Day Rally and Interactive Session with stakeholders in commemoration of the International Anti-Corruption Day in Bauchi.
The Rector said that youths are the backbone of the society who can use their strengths and brains to turn round the issue of corruption in the country positively.
Represented by Alhaji Yahaya Ado, Director Special Duty and Finance in the institution said that, hence, the need for the youth to unite to fight corruption and save the young ones saying, “Therefore, I urged to become a role model in the fight against corruption that will make a greater impact and will save most of the social vices,”.
He further pledged to support the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in the ongoing fight against corruption and suggested for community awareness in order to eradicate the menace at the grassroots.

Earlier, The Chairman of the Commission, Professor Bolaji Owasanye described citizens participation as critical to the success of the ongoing anti-corruption crusade.
Represented by the Bauchi ICPC Commissioner, Mr Abdullahi Dutsinma the ICPC Boss said that for the fight against corruption to succeed in Nigeria, the need for Nigerian citizens to contribute their quota became imperative.
According to him, the theme of this year’s celebration. ‘United Against Corruption’ is not limited to the anti-corruption agencies only as the negative effect of corruption affect all the citizens not only those involved.
” Some examples of corruption include and not limited to forgery, fraud, bribery, money laundering contract sum inflation, tax evasion, smuggling etc. Whichever example of corruption is taken, it is inimical as it destroys the capacity of institutions to deliver the functions of their mandate”, he stressed.
He noted that no doubt that the fight against corruption can succeed if fought at all levels and when Nigerians ceased to play lip service to the fight against corruption, change their corrupt ways of doing things and effectively embrace integrity, transparency and accountability as a way of life.
He, therefore, urge every Nigerians, Institutions, Corporate bodies, security and anti-corruption agencies to use their mandate to build a better nation.
