The Nigerian Youth Parliament has announced the appointment of Hon. Adekunle Akinrinade representing Osun Central Senatorial District as the Chairman and Communications Director of an ad hoc committee on media to promote effective communication, transparency, and media engagement.
The Speaker, Nigerian Youth Parliament (6th Session), Rt. Hon. Aliyu Zakari Idris disclosed this in a statement released to newsmen on Friday.
According to the speaker, the committee will be responsible for managing the Parliament’s media activities, ensuring strategic communication, and amplifying its engagements with the public.
The statement reads, “In line with our commitment to effective communication, transparency, and robust media engagement, I am pleased to announce the constitution of the Ad-Hoc Committee on Media for the 6th Session of the Nigerian Youth Parliament.
“This committee will be responsible for managing the Parliament’s media activities, ensuring strategic communication, and amplifying our engagements to the public. The appointed members are as follows:
“Hon. Adekunle Akinrinade (Osun Central Senatorial District) – Chairman / Communications Director, Hon. Anisere Peter (Lagos West Senatorial District) – Secretary / Press Secretary, Hon. Zhara Alim Bakari (Bauchi North Senatorial District) – Member / Content Creator.
“Hon. Abbass Hussaini Sukola (Gombe Central Senatorial District) – Vice Chairman / Digital Media Specialist, Hon. Harajanah Umar (Niger North Senatorial District) – Member / Media Relations Manager, Hon. Ibrahim Muh’d Sabo (Kano South Senatorial District) – Member / Social Media Manager.
“Hon. Onisoman Kos-Ikah (Bayelsa Central Senatorial District) – Member / Publicity Manager, Hon. Chibuike Kas Obiwuzie (Anambra South Senatorial District) – Member / Public Relations Manager, Aliyu Abubakar Wasagu (Kebbi South Senatorial District) Member/ Public Relations Manager II.”
“The Terms of Reference (TOR) include, Developing and implementing media and publicity strategies, Managing the organization’s public image and reputation, Coordinating media relations, press releases, and press conferences, and Creating content for social media, websites, and other platforms.
“Advising on crisis communication and reputation management, Collaborating with other departments to ensure consistent messaging, Monitoring and analysing media coverage, Evaluating the effectiveness of media and publicity efforts.
“Therefore, the ad hoc committee should create activities based on the term of reference above, obtaining the speaker’s approval for each draft prior to the public release.
“However, the committee will commence work immediately and will be expected to submit regular progress reports to the office of the speaker, I also encourage all members to actively participate and contribute to the success of this committee.
“I urge all honourable members to extend their support to this committee as they take on the crucial responsibility of enhancing the Parliament’s visibility and engagement. Congratulations to all appointees, and I look forward to seeing great work from this team!
