Two Nigerian students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Ibadan, Ahmed Adisa and Joseph Adetuberu, have made a breakthrough with the development of a next generation dual-powered heat treatment furnace.
The heat treatment solution developed by these researchers switches between electricity and gas as its power source, ensuring uninterrupted operation.
Speaking with pressmen at a recent event at the University of Ibadan, Ahmed Adisa, stated that the innovation boasts of a high technical prowess especially during transitioning.
He said, “Our developed solution which utilizes both electricity and gas is capable of detecting power outages and also to transition to its secondary source which is gas within microseconds.”
Adisa also mentioned that the solution is cost effective and would be affordable for Nigerians but accessibility is difficult due to financial constraints.
He stated, “We produced this with locally sourced materials that’s totaled approximately N150,000. So, this will be affordable for a lot of Nigerians. However, it is not available in the market at the moment because we lack the resources to produce because we’re hampered by financial constraints.”
