‘Nigerian entertainment industry, fastest growing in Africa’

The Nigerian entertainment industry is said to be experiencing the fastest growth in Africa, hence the need for corporate bodies and organisations to support it.

This observation was made by the Managing Director of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta, Vitalis Ortese, during the final of the maiden edition of OOPL Inter-School Drama Competition with the theme “Corruption and Public Morality”.

Ortese explained that the competition was targeted at harnessing the creative abilities of the participating students, saying “the purpose of this competition is to encourage creativity and confidence in our students. The competition is also to encourage healthy competitive spirit and friendship among all students.”

He recalled that the competition which was initiated some weeks back had received positive responses which culminated in the involvement of eleven secondary schools in the preliminary stage.

He also noted that the initiative had the backing of former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo who himself made his acting debut recently.

At the end of the competition, NobelHouse College, Abeokuta, emerged the winner of the drama competition, Mercyland International Schools,Ibara, Abeokuta came second and Stephens Group of Schools came third respectively.

Monetary rewards and certificates were presented to the finalists and participants of the competition.

Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo his wife, Bola, the Olowu of Owu, Oba (Dr) Adegboyega Dosumu, Olubara of Ibara, Oba Dr. Jacob Omolade were among the dignitaries present at the event.
