The Nigerian Breweries (NB) has donated about 1,500 textbooks worth N3.5 million to three vulnerable schools in the North.
The schools are Government Girls Secondary School Chibok in Maiduguri, Government Science School, Kwoi in Kaduna and Tradoc Military school in Minna.
This was disclosed by Corporate Affairs Manager, in charge of the North, Kabiru Kassim at the 7th edition of Maltina Teacher of the Year event held in Hotel Seventeen, Kaduna.
He said the donation was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility, saying, “this year NB considered vulnerable schools as beneficiaries.
“We donated 1,500 books worth N3.5m to Chibok Girls’ Secondary School, Maiduguri, Govt Girls’ Science School, Kwoi, Kaduna and Tradoc Military School, Minna, Niger State.”
According to him, the company also recognised one special school (Abdulsamad Raji) in Sokoto State where teaching and hearing aids, crouches, were donated to the school.
On the Maltina Teacher of the Year, he said the event holds annually where participants are drawn from the 36 states of the country and the FCT respectively.
“This year in the North,12 winners emerged from Borno, Plateau, Kogi, Kebbi, Niger, Zamfara, Nassarawa, Katsina, Kaduna, Kano, Jigawa and Bauchi states,” he declared.
Meanwhile, the Corporate Affairs Manager also disclosed that Nigerian Breweries also donated an L200 Mitsubishi vehicle to Kaduna State Vigilance Service (KADVS) to enhance its security operations in the state.
“The issue of securing our communities is everybody’s business. We in NB believe we have to support the state government’s efforts in tackling the multifaceted security challenges facing the state.”
