The Senate of the State of Georgia has bestowed honorary recognition on Nigeria’s Consul-General in Atlanta, Georgia, Ambassador Amina Smaila, and presented three prestigious instruments.
They invited her to the hallowed halls to be celebrated for her exceptional service.
Among these honours were the honourary citizenship certificate and the resolution commemorating International Diaspora Day, which stood as a testament to Dr. Smaila’s enduring impact.
Her accolades include the prestigious Phoenix Award, the highest honour from the Mayor of Atlanta, and the golden key to the city of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
In the same vein, House of Representatives further etched history by unanimously designating “Nigerians Day” in the state of Georgia.
Tribune Online gathered that this resolution called upon the Governor to annually proclaim this day, ensuring its commemoration for years to come.
