The results of the presidential elections in Ekiti state was the first to be announced yesterday.
In the results presented by the Vice-chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Idowu Olayinka who was the Collation Officer for Ekiti State, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Muhammadu Buhari polled 219, 231 while his main rival, the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar scored 154, 032.
Professor Olayinka gave total votes cast as 393, 709 and total valid votes as 381,132.
About 12, 577 were rejected votes in the 16 local government areas. A total number of registered voters was given as 899, 919.
The Collation Officer said the rejected votes was “largely because people thumb printed more than one space.”
The Vice Chancellor University of Lagos, (UNILAG) Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe was the Collation Officer for Osun State and was joined by the Osun Resident Electoral Commissioner, Olusegun Agbaje, to present the state presidential election result.
The APC candidate scored 347, 634 to defeat PDP which scored 337, 377.
The total number of registered voters were 1, 674, 729 while accredited voters were 732, 984.
Professor Ogundipe gave 731, 882 as total vote cast and 714, 682 as total valid votes.
