Former Nasarawa State Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura
Governor Umaru Tanko Al-makura of Nasarawa State has said that he is satisfied with the processes and conduct of the presidential and National Assembly elections in the state.
Al-makura, who stated this shortly after casting his vote at Kofar Wambai polling units (PU 004), commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for keeping to its words.
He added that he was very impressed with the turnout of the people and hoped that, at the end of the day, the entire process would be peaceful.
“So far so good, there is no cause for alarm, because with the turnout of the people to exercise their Civic duties, I am confident that the election is going to be successful.
“This exercise which is going on smoothly without any molestation and fear from any quarters is an indication that the people are aware and democracy is deepening,” he stated.
According to Governor Al-makura, he has given a directive to security operatives to arrest any breakdown of law and order without fear or favour, saying that Nasarawa State would continue to remain peaceful throughout the election period.
Meanwhile, Nigerian Tribune observed a massive turnout of voters in most polling units, with shops looked up and roadblocks mounted by security operatives in major roads to enforce compliance of movement restrictions.
