THE Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kano State chapter, Reverend Adeolu Samuel Adeyemo, has said as Nigeria marking its 59 years of independence, the citizens irrespective of religion and tribal differences, should seek divine intervention to confronting the country ‘s socio-economy and political development.
Making the assertion, Rev Adeyemo at a one-day prayer to mark the country’s 59 years independence held at Evangelical Church of West Africa (ECWA) , told the mammoth congregations, that attended the programme , that the nation ‘s needed prayer and God can still turn the country round for better.
His words ” though some people may be saying that there is no need to called for prayer ,but as a Christian, I am bold to say that the Bible in the book of Proverb 21: 1, says the heart of kings is in the hands of God and He can turn it to wherever He wants “hence he said the problems bedevilling the country has never passed God intervention, we should pray and He would listen to our prayers .

According to him ” the basic purpose for this programme is to called for prayers ,for the nation -Nigeria, at 59 independence, noting that though the country is facing with myriad of challenges, like armed banditry, terrorism, herdsmen killing and economic situation, but our prayer is that God should turn Nigeria around , where everybody would enjoy and injustice would wipe away and rule of laws would uphold.
Nigeria present situation called for prayers, we have seen many worst situations, like kidnapping armed robbery, banditry and worst xenophobia attack of Nigerians in South African, but saddened and pathetic, the same South Africa we contributed in cash and kind to liberated them from the yoke of apartheid regime now killing our own citizens ” what an irony of life .
He, however, added that despite daunting challenges facing the country, we are not discouraging, we have hopes ,we were people of hope ,we will remain a people of hope for this great country to regains its lost glory because this country is a nation flow with milk and honey ,the only hindrance and cog on its progress, is we have failed to pray and seek for a divine intervention.
Rev.Adeyemo then commended the state governor, Dr.Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the entire Emirate councils and all security operatives in the state, saying they have contributed immensely and collectively to ensure peace reign in Kano, despite negative moves of enemies of progress to a caused crisis.
He then recalled of alleged demolition of Mosque ,which was said occurred in Port -Harcourt ,noting the purported occurrence caused apprehension , tension and palpable fear in the mind of Citizens in Kano, but with prayers and prompt steps taken by governor Ganduje, the Emirate councils and singlet efforts from entire security operatives, confidence of peace was restored in the mind of people and the citizens were sleeping with two eyes closed .
