Nigeria needs a capable, committed leadership in 2019

FORMER Kaduna Governor and Ex-Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Caretaker Committee Chairman, Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi said that Nigeria needs a committed and capable leadership to revive the nation from the present socio-economic and political woes facing the nation.

This was even as he said PDP will bring Nigeria out of the misrule by the All Progressives Congress (APC) when it comes to power in 2019.

Makarfi explained that the recent apology rendered by the leadership of PDP to Nigerians for the past mistakes was in order as the PDP is ready to remedy the nation’s economy that the ruling party has mismanaged.

Senator Makarfi spoke in an interview on Thursday before receiving a group of Northern Christian youths who paid him a courtesy visits in Kaduna, as they urged him to come out and declare for the presidential race under PDP, next year.

He said: “I am in total support of the position of my party, the PDP in apologising to Nigerians of the past years and I believe Nigerians can now discern the situation we are facing in our country today and support all effort to bring the nation out of the mess”.

According to him, the reactions by the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed on the apology by Nigerians cannot prevent Nigerians in accepting the apology, because the APC was desperate on how to come back in 2019 notwithstanding the precarious situation they have plunged Nigeria into.

“Lai’s reactions cannot hold water. What is his name? Lai. The APC has concorted a lot of lies trying to paint us black, but let me tell you that cannot prevent us from our focus in coming back to power in 2019.They have failed woefully.”

Meanwhile, the Christian youths, under the umbrella of Northern Christian Youth Forum (NCYF) who visited him, pledged to support him if he declares for the Presidency in 2019.

The leader of NCYF, Ogidi Lawrence said: “We have come to you because we believe in the vision and in you. We know what you have done before and we know that the almighty God will still use you to do the same for our country.

This is the Northern Christian Youth Forum (NCYF) and we have come to say that we have seen you being worthy to lead us in
this country”.

“We are in an arena of mounting pressure in our country today and we are now looking for solution, and we are in the dispensation of democracy which has come to stay in Nigeria; and we believe that if we support somebody like you the solution for our nation’s ills will be found”.

“We are pleading and the land is crying and also pleading and praying that for somebody like you will come out to give the desired result that the nation is looking for. I think, it is timely and God has arranged it in such a way that a messaiah would come to rescue Nigerians from the present woes”.

Makarfi, in his response said: “It is not the first time that such groups as yours would come. The purpose for your visit will add to thevisits and consultations going on, for us to do the needful at the appropriate time”.

“What is worth doing is worth doing well, it is good to widely consultbefore we take a major decision. And we will continue to do that”.
