Piqued by the country’s over-reliance on crude oil, popular comedian, Ali Baba, has expressed fears that the country may be doomed in 10 years should it fail to develop other sectors of the economy that could return the country to the path of prosperity.
Ali Baba, a writer and speaker, who shared his thought on Instagram said it was unfortunate that Nigeria has failed to diversify into other sectors such as entertainment, tourism, agriculture, education, information technology, broadcasting, fashion and culture that are capable of kicking the economy out of recession.
He said with the way other developed countries are fast developing other means of moving their cars apart from using fuel, Nigeria’s over-reliance on fuel would spell doom for it in 10 years should it fail to invest in infrastructure and other industries to prepare for the day oil will become less important.
According to the comedian, “Anytime I see the remarkable landmarks of Telsa, I am further convinced that Nigeria will be doomed in the next ten years. Our recession will be televised in 3D.”
Ali Baba said Telsa is overtaking peril and diesel car manufacturers, adding that “Telsa makes electric cars, alternative and renewable energy. That means nobody will buy anymore in Nigeria.”
Writing further, the comedian said at a time when recharge stations were opening shops to serve Telsa, Nigeria was busy drilling for oil, noting that “When the cars begin to sell everywhere, we will be looking for who to buy ours.”
“Very soon, NNPC will be like NIPOST. When was the last time you sent a Telegram. Give it 10 years, most parts of the world will scrap filling stations for recharge stations, where you can quickly recharge your car and it will carry you for four days,” he said.
