Nigeria blessed with talented people, Don says

PROFESSOR of Human Right at the Asean University International (AUI), Indonesia, Blessing Lawal, has said that Nigeria is blessed with an array of talented and brilliant people just as he noted that much is yet to be done to encourage and utilise them from the development of the country.

Lawal, founder and president of the Global Social Economic and Financial Evolution Network, (GSFN), an affiliate of AUI, said this during the conferment of honorary professorship in Leadership and Business Management on Pastor Samuel Awobode of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Oyo Province 13, Region 21, Oyo State, at the Trinity Assembly of RCCG, Adeoyo Road, Ibadan, Oyo State, on Sunday.

He said the honorary professorship was conferred on the cleric in recognition of his leadership traits, humanitarian activities in various communities, mentorship as well as his academic prowess.

“We chose leaders from across the globe and right now, we have over 300 leaders and ambassadors who are championing global peace and prosperity in their various countries and we have come to Nigeria to honour a man who has not just been a father, but also a mentor.

“With this award, he has become an automatic global ambassador of GSFN and he can represent the network in any nation, whereby most of his trips will be sponsored in collaboration with the United Nations (UN) and European Union (EU).”

Awobode, on the occasion, said that: “Today marks exactly six years when I earned my first professorship in church growth and specialise ministry from the International College of Ministry, an affiliate of Ames Christian University, Florida, United States and currently, I’m almost completing another PhD in Economics Education, at the University of Ibadan”.

He urged the assembly, especially, the youth to place a premium on seeking knowledge rather than money, saying: “knowledge will take you far in life. My level of education today has taken me around the world, even as a cleric; imparting lives and educating people as well as in business, management, leadership, counselling and church growth.”

Awobode also advised other clerics to pursue education, saying: “After all, Paul the apostle, was a Doctor of Law. He used his literacy in law in the Ministry of Christ. We should also emulate Pastor E.A. Adeboye, who has a PhD in Mathematics Hydrodynamics and that has helped him a lot in his ministry.”

He, however, promised to use the award for human capacity development and mentorship as he commended the university for the award.
