The Secretary to the Government of Niger State (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman, has extended his warm felicitations and goodwill messages to all Christians in the state and beyond as they commemorate Good Friday and Easter Monday.
In his message to mark the epoch-making events, the SSG stated that this sacred period marks the crucifixion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, embodying the core values of sacrifice, love, forgiveness, and hope—virtues that remain fundamental to our collective existence as a people.
Alhaji Usman further explained that as Christians observe these holy days, the state government acknowledges the significance of this season to the Christian faith and recognises it as a time of deep reflection, renewal, and recommitment to the teachings of Jesus Christ.
He urged all Christian faithful to use this period to pray for the peace, progress, and development of Niger State and Nigeria at large, stressing that citizens are encouraged to celebrate responsibly while upholding the values of peaceful coexistence, religious tolerance, and national unity.
The SSG appealed to all residents to be security-conscious during this period and report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities. Security agencies have been directed to ensure adequate protection of lives and property throughout the celebration.
“On behalf of the Government of Niger State, I wish all Christians a solemn Good Friday and a joyous Easter Monday. May the lessons of sacrifice, love, and resurrection inspire us all to contribute meaningfully to the development of our dear state and nation as a whole,” the SSG added.
According to Alhaji Usman, “As we celebrate, let us remember the less privileged in our society and extend a hand of fellowship to them. The teachings of Jesus Christ on compassion and selfless service should guide our interaction with one another, not just during this festive period but always.”
He revealed that the state government remains committed to creating an enabling environment for all citizens to practise their faith freely and peacefully while also implementing policies and programmes aimed at improving the welfare of all residents, regardless of religious, tribal, or political affiliations.
The Secretary to the Niger State Government wishes all Christians a blessed Easter celebration and prays that the resurrection power of Jesus Christ will bring renewed hope, healing, and prosperity to all citizens of the state.
