Niger Republic: Sokoto PDP Chieftain cautions Tinubu against military coup

Published by
A chieftain of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party in Sokoto State, Honourable Kabiru Aliyu, has cautioned President Bola Tinubu against military options in the ongoing crisis rocking the Niger Republic.
Aliyu, while speaking with our correspondent, said the use of military options in resolving the crisis will create more problems for both Nigeria and the Niger Republic.
“Let me be serious with you, nobody in the state will ever support military options to solve the problem of leadership in the Republic of Niger.
“We people of Sokoto State have many things in common with the Niger Republic, first of foremost, we are related to the either by blood or through marriage.
“Most of our people living in that country, too, are professional artisans who most of them have shops, business centres, and hotels, among others, and what will be their fate when we military invade the country “
“Another point we need to know is if at all they were attacked, assuming they intend to retaliate, those states that share a border with the Niger Republic like Sokoto, Katsina among others, will be the soft target of their attack.
“So, with all these, I am sure nobody in the entire Northern states will ever support military option in the Niger Republic”
“If we attack them, more people from neighboring states in the Niger Republic will become refugees, and this will lead to more IDP camps in our state and nation at large,” he added.
