Niger Police confirm killing of 28-year-old businessman

Niger State Police Command has confirmed the killing of a 28-year-old businessman, Hassan Shehu, at the Abdulkadri Kure new market in Minna, Chanchaga local government area of the state.

The slain businessman was said to have been stabbed in the neck, and reportedly left in the pool of his blood by the suspected assailant. He was said to have bled to death before help could reach him on Wednesday.

The lifeless body of the deceased was said to have been found at the Tudun-Fulani area, in Bosso Local Government Area of the state.

Nigerian Tribune investigation revealed that the deceased, a trader in pieces of jewellery was said to have left his shop at Kure market within Minna Metropolitan areas to Tudun-Fulani on the outskirts of Minna after receiving a telephone call by a customer identified as Bashir with the view to sell some gold jewellery to him.

The lifeless body of Shehu was thereby recovered from the area following a distress call to the police by some concerned citizens.

The image-maker of the state Police Command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident in a press statement issued and made available to the newsmen, stressing that “a preliminary investigation has shown that the late Hassan Shehu was stabbed to death in the neck.”

Abiodun, however, assured that the case was still under investigation as efforts were being intensified to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
