Niger: Police arrest four suspects for ‘stealing truck’

The Police in Niger State have announced the arrest of four suspected criminals over allegations of criminal conspiracy, theft of a truck, and the recovery of the stolen vehicle.

This was contained in a press statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Niger State Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, and made available to journalists on Wednesday in Minna.

The statement added that on 12th August 2025, at about 9:30 p.m., based on credible intelligence received at Maje Division, it was reported that some persons were planning to sell a suspected stolen truck along Kaduna Road, Kaduna-Abuja Expressway, Dikko area, Suleja.

The statement further noted that as a result of this, the DPO Maje Division led his patrol team to the scene, where four persons were arrested, namely: Abdulrahman Tijani, 26, of Ankpa, Kogi State, and staff of Tongyi Group of Company in Edo State; Musa Zakari, 24, of Kogi State (motor boy); Ojo Joseph, 29, of Adogo, Kogi State; and Mohammed Musa, 25, of Ajaokuta, Kogi State.

It stressed that the suspects were arrested with a yellow Howo truck bearing registration number LKJ 370 XJ.

It was further gathered that “During interrogation, Abdulrahman Tijani allegedly confessed that he drove the said truck, which was under his care as a driver of the company to Kaduna road in order to sell it to a buyer.

“He said that both Ojo Joseph and Moh’d Musa were mechanics he hired to accompany him in case the vehicle spoil on the way,” stressing that the said company was contacted and confirmed with proof of ownership of the vehicle”.

Meanwhile, the PPRO, SP Abiodun, has assured that the case will soon be transferred to SCID, Minna, for further investigation.
