The Coalition of Niger North Senatorial District’s Youth Forums, have condemned Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago for appointing only people from Niger South and Niger East Senatorial districts (Zones A and B) into positions and neglecting, Niger North Senatorial district (Zone C) that gave him massive votes that brought him to power.
President of the Coalition, Sahabi Auna, said this during a press/extraordinary meeting of the National Executive Council Members of the coalition in Minna.
He alleged that Zone C was marginalized by the present administration at the state and Federal levels despite the tremendous support it has given to the present administration.
“We remind the governments of the tremendous support our dear zone gave in the instalment of the government of APC in Nigeria the record is fresh not far from our minds.
“Zone C gave a bulk of votes against both the A and B zones the duo zones outrightly voted against APC in the 2023 elections.
“We presumed our allegiance will be escorted with resounding applause but nay rather,” he said.
He said that political appointments and zoning arrangements as well as statutory representation should be given usual consideration in the state.
He added that key decision-making roles such as the governor, deputy, SSG, Chief of Staff, deputy chief of staff, head of service and agencies like NSUBEB, SDGs and civil service commission were all from zones A and B.
He called on the governor to address inequalities and inclusiveness and ensure that all zones were given equal opportunities and representation.
Auna disclosed that aside from marginalisation, the zone was being terrified by the pathetic insurgency’s series of destruction of lives and properties.
But In a swift reaction, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Malam Bologi Ibrahim, said appointments by the present administration was balanced as there were more commissioners and special advisers and directors generals from zone C.
He however debunked the assertion that the zone has been marginalised as there were more appointments in the zone, adding that appointment was still ongoing and it was too early to say that the zone is being marginallized.
