Niger LG boss commits to improving livelihood of less privileged

Chanchaga local government council in Niger has assured the less privileged within the local government area of its commitment towards improving their livelihood.

The Hon. Chairman of Chanchaga Local Government Council in Niger State, Hon. Aminu Yakubu Ladan, gave the promise on Sunday at the closing ceremony of the cash support distribution program to women petty traders, initiated by the council, which took place at Kpakungu community in Minna South of the local government area.

The Council Boss, said that the council had resolved to embark only on programmes that have direct bearing to the people, such as the cash support programme, adding that the council has a lot in stock for the people of the local government to better their living condition.

Hon. Ladan explained that his administration was aiming at empowering about 5000 women and youths in the local government, emphasizing that the gesture was to compliment the state government ‘s efforts of the state Governor, Hon.

Mohammed Umaru Bago in improving the welfare and well-being of the people in the State.

He further explained that they chose to go round each of the 11 wards of the local government to present the cash support to the beneficiaries directly, because it was the same approach they used while seeking for their mandate during the council election that ushered them into office

He said the tour has afforded him the opportunity to interact with his people, adding that the gesture was to give back to the people that gave them the mandate to occupy the elective position.

The Council Chairman further disclosed that the phase two of the cash support programme will commence in no distant time, appealing to those who did not benefit from the first phase to exercise a little patience, as he advised those who benefited to utilize it to expand their businesses.

The house leader of Chanchaga legislative council who spoke on behalf of all the councillors, Hon. Yahuza Sa’idu Etsu appreciated the council chairman for the gesture and assured him of their support at all the times.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, the councillor representing Minna South ward who is also the majority leader of Chanchaga legislative council, Hon. Ibrahim Isah Gwamna said they will always support any programme that will improve the welfare and well-being of the people, and advised the beneficiaries not to misuse what they were given but to use it to boost their business.”
