Niger, Greenville sign MoU on establishment of two CNG plants

Published by

The Niger State Government has concluded all arrangements with Greenville LNG Limited to establish two CNG plants in Minna and Suleja as the state gears up to begin operation of the 200 compressed natural gas (CNG) buses procured.

The Commissioner of the Ministry of Lands and Survey, Barrister Maurice Bello Magaji, disclosed this in Minna, Niger State, during an interactive session with representatives from Greenville LNG Limited, Nigeria’s leading CNG producer.

Barrister Magaji also led the team on a site visit for the development of a CNG depot in Minna and another in Suleja, both to be constructed simultaneously.

According to him, the land allocated for the two depots spans 8.7 hectares.

While noting that these depots will serve as a central CNG hub in North Central Nigeria, Barrister Magaji added that the depot will also cater for the already procured 200 CNG buses for state use and the wider public.

Under the arrangement, the bus services will operate as free transportation for students at all levels, from primary to tertiary education.

The buses are also expected to provide subsidised transportation for civil servants.

Out of the 200 procured buses, 100 will be dedicated to the Suleja/Abuja route, while the remainder will operate within the state and inter-state transport services.
