Niger governor expresses satisfaction with ongoing Minna-Bida road construction

Niger State Governor, Alhaji  Abubakar Sani Bello, has expressed satisfaction with the quality of work on the ongoing 15.5 km construction works on the dual-carriage Minna-Bida road, adding that he is optimistic that if the pace of the road project is sustained, it will be completed within the specified time frame.

He stated this on Tuesday when he inspected this and other road projects within Minna, the state capital to ascertain the level of work done so far and their challenges.

The governor, however, attributed the delay in the completion of the Minna- Bida road to the delay in the compensation of residents along Kpakungu community axis of the road.

Speaking further on the issue of compensation, Governor Sani Bello said “compensation is being paid in stages and the state government has completed payment for the first stage”, just as he assured that very soon,  the second stage payment will commence. 

“With regards to the capacity of the construction company handling the construction works and the quality of work  done so far, I am satisfied.

“Hopefully next week we will start compensating those in second stage. If they continue at this pace, they will meet up as long as we don’t have any hitches as regards to funding”, he said.

The Project Manager, Dantata and Sawoe, Naafey Bin Shaukat said that “So far, almost 12km of the left hand side of the road has been asphalted and work is ongoing on the right hand side of the road from Kpakungu community, an outskirt of Minna  to Garatu in Bosso Local Government Area of the state

Sahukat stated further that they were constructing a 15.5km dual carriageway,  stressing,  that “the state government has been very supportive of the project, noting that the road project was initially for 83km,  but was however reviewed to 15.5km dual-carriageway so as to decongest the road.
