Niger Gov warns Corpers against cybercrime, criminal activities

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has advised corps members against indulging in cybercrime and other criminal acts capable of destroying their lives and the honour of their homes.

The Governor gave the advice during the closing ceremony of the 2024 Batch ‘A’ stream one orientation course at the NYSC orientation camp in Paikoro Local Government Area of the State.

According to him, the youths are the greatest asset of any nation, hence the need for them to live exemplary lives.

He maintained that the NYSC scheme has been a veritable platform for harnessing the collective energies and creative abilities of graduate youth towards the attainment of national cohesion and development.

He lauded the corp members for their resilience in the last three weeks and urged them to replicate the lessons learned during the orientation course.

Speaking earlier, the State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mrs Abdulwahab Alidat, enjoined the corp members to perform their duties with due diligence and be guided by the provisions of the NYSC and by-laws, as well as workplace ethics.

Alidat also charged them to undertake personal and group community development projects that will help to uplift the living standards of their host communities.

She, however, cautioned the corps members against staying out late, attending night parties, unauthorised journeys and night trips, and accepting car rides from strangers.

The State Coordinator thereby appealed to corp employers to always accept corp members posted to them and make necessary provisions for their welfare.
