Earlier, the Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abdulmalik Sarkin-Daji, explained that the House commenced budget screening approximately three months ago.

He attributed the quick passage of the budget to the exceptional performance of the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mustapha Ndajiwo. The Speaker praised Ndajiwo for ensuring all due processes were diligently followed, which facilitated the legislators’ work. He highlighted that the 10th Assembly focused on completing the usual procedures while ensuring the judicious allocation of resources in the budget.

The Speaker also lauded the Governor for his vision and support of the legislature, assuring him that the 10th State Assembly would continue to foster a harmonious relationship with the Executive arm for the realization of the New Niger Agenda.

Governor Bago had earlier presented the 2025 budget estimate, tagged “The Budget of Hope for Food Security and Sustainability,” to the State House of Assembly on December 12, 2024. During the presentation, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abdulmalik Sarkin-Daji, assured the Governor that the legislators would work diligently to ensure its swift passage.
