Niger gov commences assessment of community land in Shiroro LG

Niger State government is planning to cultivate about 4.5 million hectares of arable land for agricultural purposes across the Shitoro-Lamkpa axis of Shiroro Local Government Area of the state.

Speaking during the recent assessment tour of the land in about 12 communities in the local government area, the state deputy governor, Yakubu Garba, disclosed that Governor Muhammed Umaru Bago will soon put in place measures aimed at cultivating over 4.5 million hectares of land in the state within the next eight years.

Garba, accompanied by the Commissioner for Lands, Maurice Magaji and other top government officials from the state and local government areas, expressed satisfaction with the expanse of land within the Shiroro-Lamkpa axis.

Garba used the opportunity of the assessment tour to call on the rural dwellers and community leaders to cooperate with government.

Responding, the village head of Pina and Dagacin Gussoro commended the foresight of the state government and assured the deputy governor of their support.

Some of the communities visited are Shakwata, Tachipi, Agogoyi, Pina, Tawo, Pmawyi, among others.
