Niger emir debunks rumours of invasion of Borgu by armed bandits

Published by

The Mai-Borgu (Emir of Borgu) in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, His Royal Highness (HRH) Alhaji Muhammad Haliru Jikantoro II, has described as untrue the rumour that armed bandits have invaded New Bussa town.

New Bussa town is the headquarters of Borgu Local Government Council.

The emir stated this at the weekend, adding that the rumour was being circulated by some unscrupulous and disgruntled elements in the state with the intention of causing unnecessary fear among the people and with the view to scare businessmen away from their businesses in his domain.

Alhaji Muhammad Haliru Dantoro the first-class Emir of Borgu Emirate Council, however, appealed to his subjects to remain calm and continue their legitimate businesses without fear of molestation and intimidation by any individual or group of persons.

He described the rumours as baseless misleading and unfounded while assuring that security agencies were on top of the situation.
