To enhance effective communication infrastructure within Nigeria’s defense sector, the Nigerian Communications Satellite Ltd. (NIGCOMSAT) and MOMAS Equipment and Protective Applications International Limited (EPAIL) have announced a partnership. This collaboration aims to bolster national security through improved communication networks.

At the signing event of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), held at the MOMAS-EPAIL factory in Mowe, Ogun State, the Managing Director of NIGCOMSAT, Mrs. Nkechi Egerton-Idehen, praised MOMAS-EPAIL’s significant investments in Nigeria’s local content development across various sectors, including power and defense. The event was attended by key personalities from both organizations.

Egerton-Idehen highlighted the importance of this strategic partnership, noting MOMAS-EPAIL’s leadership in innovation for national security. She encouraged other indigenous companies to collaborate with NIGCOMSAT to advance the country through an effective server communication network, emphasizing that security is currently a top priority for Nigeria.

“Today is very historic because it’s the signing of a partnership between NIGCOMSAT and MOMAS-EPAIL, which is strategic. Most people do not know that MOMAS-EPAIL is involved in the manufacturing of defense materials for security. And NIGCOMSAT is the premier satellite communication company for Nigeria. So, there is value in collaborating to help our defense sector,” Egerton-Idehen stated.

She reiterated NIGCOMSAT’s commitment to serving Nigeria through Nigerian resources, emphasizing the need to protect, create value, and embrace innovation within the defense sector. Egerton-Idehen noted that the partnership with MOMAS-EPAIL, a fully Nigerian company, would bring substantial value to the nation and demonstrated the feasibility of successful local partnerships.

Mr. Kola Balogun, Chairman of MOMAS-EPAIL, remarked that the partnership with NIGCOMSAT would enhance the database and improve data collection for national security. He highlighted the firm’s strong knowledge base in information security, which is crucial for protecting the nation’s security network. Balogun noted that MOMAS-EPAIL has significantly advanced in providing armored vehicles and other operational materials.

Building synergy with NIGCOMSAT, Balogun explained, would improve group communication infrastructure and frontline operations. He emphasized that the MoU would facilitate the exchange of critical information related to security, intelligence, and communication, ensuring that vital information is securely stored and managed.

“All the vital information has to be embedded in the agreement such that information that is important to the security of Nigeria can be saved and domesticated. This will further enhance our services and effectiveness towards service delivery to the defense sector,” Balogun said.

EPAIL, a member of the MOMAS group of companies, was established with the goal of advancing local technology research and development to provide effective security solutions for safeguarding lives and property.
