NICOWA president commissions shopping mall in Sokoto

In an effort to empower the wives of officers of the Nigeria Correctional Service, the National President of Nigeria Correctional Officer’s Wife, Hajia Aisha Musa Haliru Nababa, has inaugurated a shopping mall in Sokoto State.

Represented by the wife of the Delta State Controller of Correctional Service, Prof Jayi Oba, Mrs. Nababa stated that NICOWA is committed to the empowerment and welfare of its members.

She explained that the shopping mall would promote commercial activities in Sokoto State, emphasizing that if well harnessed, it will boost the economy and create jobs for the people.

“Sokoto is a commercial town, so constructing this shopping mall here will help improve commercial activities in the city,” she stated.

Mrs. Nababa further stated that NICOWA is committed to supporting their husbands in the rehabilitation and reformation of offenders (inmates).

She thanked the Controller General of Nigeria Correctional Service, Musa Haliru Nababa, for providing an enabling environment for the construction of the shopping mall.

She also expressed gratitude to Governor Ahmed Aliyu and Hajia Fatima Ahmed Aliyu for their unflinching support, which made the project a reality.

She called on the people of Sokoto State to patronize the mall, as doing so will put food on the table for many.

On his part, the Controller General of Nigeria Correctional Service, Musa Haliru Nababa, represented by the Controller of Correctional Service in Sokoto State, Salihu Abdullahi, appreciated NICOWA for the initiative.

Nababa reiterated that the Service will welcome any initiative that helps uplift the lives of Nigerians.

He stated that his administration will support NICOWA to ensure they execute people-oriented projects.

The event was highlighted by the entertainment of guests by NICOWA Cultural dancers.
