Kayode Abegunde
THE Nigerian Canadian Celebrities Entertainment Award (NICCEA), recently presented an award of recognition to a US-based Nigerian businessman and politician, Mr Kayode Abegunde, for his philanthropic gesture particularly in the COVID-19 era among others.
Abegunde was instrumental to putting smiles on people’s face during the COVID-19 lockdown by providing financial aid and giving out foods to the needy.
According to a letter of notification signed by the organisers of the award and sent to Abegunde, the annual award is in recognition of the immense contribution of Nigerian citizens abroad to mankind and celebrates those who have significantly impacted the progress of Nigerian businesses, culture, humanitarian services and entertainment both home and abroad.
The letter reads “With people like you, our culture and entertainment cannot go into extinction. We know a man can only give awards, only God gives reward. We aim at encouraging and recognising notable people as you.”
Reacting to the award, Abegunde, who is also an accountant and consultant stated that it would spur him to do more, as he has resolved not to relent in his efforts at putting a smile on the face of the needy and continue to contribute his quota to the betterment of Nigeria as well as the United States of America.
