NIA scam: Reps grill Kingibe, others

THE House of Representatives Committee on National Security and Intelligence on Tuesday held a closed-door meeting with members of the presidential panel on the restructuring of the National Intelligence Agency, NIA.

Those grilled by the House committee headed by Honourable Sani Jaji-Aminu, behind closed doors include Ambassador Babagana Kingibe, Ambassador Z.Y Ibrahim, Ambassador Olaniyi Oladimeji, Chief Albert Horsfall and the new NIA boss, Ambassador Ahmed Rufai Abubakar.

It will be recalled that the House committee hinted that, the committee had commenced probe of about $202 allegedly missing from the agency.

Also, the committee had indicated that issues bothering on the appointment and competency of the new Director-General of the agency would be investigated.

Those grilled behind closed doors by the committee did not utter any word after the session.

However, while speaking with newsmen Hon, Aminu said that the committee was making progress in their ongoing investigation but declined to be specific on why the presidential panel was summoned and what issues they engaged the group.
