The Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has been ranked as the most powerful woman in Africa.
Forbes, in its 20th annual ranking released on Tuesday, showcased diverse influential figures, among who are; CEOs, entertainers, politicians, philanthropists, and policymakers.
According to the rankings, Ms Okonjo-Iweala, a prominent Nigerian, is positioned at 87th place in the Most Powerful Women in the world list.
Tanzanian President, Samia Hassan, is also on this distinguished list at the 93rd spot while Mo Abudu, Nigerian media mogul and philanthropist makes 98th.
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, was named most powerful woman in the world for 2023 for impactful policy and budgetary decisions that wield significant influence, shaping the lives of 450 million people across Europe.
Following Ursula on the list is Christine Lagarde, the European Central Bank President. Lagarde holds the second position for steering Europe’s monetary policy during a period of elevated inflation.
The United States Vice President, Kamala Harris, makes the third place while Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni securing the fourth spot.
