The Chief Executive Officer of CEEO Mr Oyebisi Davidcrown, made the call on Wednesday at Nasarawa State University, Keffi, during Awareness Research Presentation titled “EIV/AIDS2:The Resultant Effect of Examination Malpractice on the Intellectual Prowess of Learners and National development.
Tribune Online reports that “EIV/AIDS2” is an acronym for Educational Intelligence Virus (EIV) and Academic Immune Deficiency Syndrome2 (AIDS) respectively.
Speaking at the awareness campaign organized by the NGO for 100/200 level Direct Entry students of the faculty of Education, Davidcrown said any certificate obtained through malpractice cannot be defended, hence, those culpable of the offence should return their certificates.
He has urged any Nigerian who obtained certificates in examination malpractice to renounce the results in the interest of the education sector and for the socio-economic development of the country.
The Chief Executive who said that the aim of the awareness campaign was to enlighten the students on the danger of engaging in examination malpractice, noted that, examination malpractice has brought set back to the socio-economic development of the country.
“EIV is a psychological micro element that causes infection to the moral and intellect of an individual learner that can result to AIDS while AIDS is psychological illness which attacks the moral and mental development of a person by rendering the brain under function or malfunction.
“This means that if a holder of certificate discovers that he can’t find correlation between him and the certificates he possessed or that the certificate is greater than his ability or capacity, the implication is that he is a carrier of EIV/AIDS”, he said.
Also speaking, Prof Lubasa Nseendi of the faculty of Education of the university commended the NGO for organizing the awareness campaign and called for its sustenance.
Nseendi said that the awareness campaign would go a long way in curbing examination malpractice not only in the institution but the society at large.
