The Global Centre for Empowerment and Care for Life Challenges, a United Nations Non-Governmental Organization, has said it has concluded plans to build 5,000 houses in Kaduna as part of efforts to meet with the United Nations sustainable goals 9 and 11.

Speaking during the launch of the project in Kaduna at the weekend, the President of the group, Ambassador Ejikeme Agbo noted that the housing deficit in the country is worrisome.

He said as part of their efforts to assist millions of Nigerians in owning their houses, his organization intended to help them own their houses under the project.

According to him, they intend to provide 400,000 houses in the 36 states of the federation, saying, “We are building 5,000 houses in each of the states.

“Now, we are in North and in Kaduna to be specific because of the favourable disposition of the state government. The state (Kaduna) is the first state government to key into the program. That’s why we are here.

He said, “We are building 10,000 houses. However, in the first phase, we are going to build 5,000 houses in Kaduna.

Also speaking, the Vice President, Ambassador Isiaka Shittu noted that beyond having houses for the teeming populace, the project will provide opportunity for the youths to earn a living thereby improving their lives as well as the security of the state.

While speaking, the group’s marketing and public relations consultant, Ambassador Larry’s Goodwill, remarked that their resolve is to ensure that anyone who earns a living owns a house.

“We have provided a platform where we make it easy for any interested person to have a house by paying installmentally.”
