In an interview with newsmen on Friday in Ilorin, Adimula said Patigi has the highest record of flood disaster victims in Kwara.

She said the organisation will also extend humanitarian assistance to other IDPs within and outside Kwara.

The WOCWI Chairperson said that apart from other activities of the NGO, including assisting the less privileged and students in the state.

According to her, it is important to do this because the organisation realized that government alone cannot do all.

“We have materials donated by well-meaning Nigerians to be shared among those most affected by disasters in one way or the other, thus WOCWI decided to move into various IDPs camps to donate materials and needed items to the affected victims”.

Adimula also commended the initiative of the present administration in the country by identifying itself with the victims of various disasters.

She also commended the government for establishing the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management and appointing substantive administration to manage it.

She, however, urged the government to pay more attention to the plight of the affected flood victims and other related disasters in the country,

The chairperson, a lawyer, advised that the ministry should not be an avenue for personal enrichment. (NAN)
