A non-governmental organisation “Cleen Foundation,” has Organised a training workshop on preventing Serious Organized Crime (SOC) in the communities of two local government areas of Zamfara state.
The two days training was flagged up in Gusau, Zamfara state capital, on Monday by the program officer(Monitoring & Evaluation) Cleen Foundation Mr Nnamdi Odo, with aimed at crime prevention Partnership (CPP) on preventing in the state.
According to him, the idea to train communities on crime prevention was brought after serious independent research was carried out and come out with states that are more prone to security challenges.
“During the research, four states that include Zamfara, Bayelsa, Edo, and Lagos were discovered as worst hits, and two local government areas were selected from each state for Crime Prevention Partnership (CPP) program.”
Earlier on, Abubakar Magaji Yabo, who is working on preventing Serious Organized Crime (SOC) and Organized Criminal Groups (OCG) among communities in Zamfara state, said participants were drawn from communities in Bungudu and Maru local government areas of the state.
Abubakar Yabo explained that based on the crime of banditry and cattle rustling, the two local governments were selected in the state (Maru& Bungudu).
He called on the state government to come in and intervene in the program on Crime Prevention Partnership (CPP) for other local government areas to participate and benefit from the program in the state.
He advised Youths in the state to shun crimes and other criminal activities for them to be organised and become leaders of tomorrow.
During the training, security personnel comprised of senior police officers have delivered lectures on crime prevention and ways to report any suspicious character to the nearest security agent.
Highlights of the lectures were the roles of the Crime Prevention Partnership (CPP) and Organized Criminal Groups (OCG) within the community in the state.
