A non-governmental organisation (NGO), Anointed Balm of Gilead Foundation, on Sunday, identified with widows, orphans and the underprivileged at Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke-Ayo, Ile Alagbede, Gege Olopa District headquarters in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The organisation donated foodstuff and clothes to beneficiaries about 200 of whom benefitted from free medical check-up.
Founder of the foundation, Pastor Yetunde Adesope, said the significance of the programme was a divine calling to help widows and the underprivileged in the society.
She said: “We all know what the economy is all about in recent times and it is a divine call to put a smile on the faces of the people.
“We started the programme seven years ago and it has been wonderful, though I’m not that buoyant, yet with the help of other individuals, the ministry has been flourishing.
“God called me and said I must take care of the needy, the widow precisely, and the underprivileged and their children.”
She urged the beneficiaries not to exchange what they were given for money, especially clothes, just as she challenged them to engage themselves in vocational training so as to support their children.
In his remarks, pastor of the church, Emmanuel Oludiran, lauded the foundation for the gesture, saying the items donated will go a long way in helping beneficiaries.
