New session: Your old or new environment?

On Tuesday, it was a delight to see students in various school uniforms returning to school with excitement. Some of them who were newly admitted into Junior Secondary School share their experiences.

Wisdom Chibuzor

I am excited to be in secondary school. So far, I have been able to observe that this new environment is bigger from the school I just left and the play area is different. We played with the merry-go-round, swings and others but here I can see table tennis, badminton court, volleyball court and other outdoor games that I was not used to in primary school. The period allocated to each subject differs as well. We used to have 30 minutes for a subject in my former school but here it is 40, and the closing time is now 2:20 p.m. as against the 2:00 p.m. that I was used to.

Esther Ogunwale

I attended a primary school where we had enough time and space to play football which I have not been able to do here. In addition, the use of beret is made compulsory in my new school whereas we do not even use it at all in my former school. Although we had a school garden in my former school, it was not as big as the one I saw here. Better security is also in place here. The presence of a school bus and running tap water also makes a difference. However, I’d love my school to have a swimming pool – just for the experience.

Isiaq Moshood

My new school does not have a big playground as my former school and students are not allowed much time to play as we did in my primary school. My new school has good running water and clean toilets. I love the school and I could not ask for more.

Eebo Oyinlade

I am from a school in the same local government area as my new school. My former school has friendly teachers who are always ready to teach well as I have here as well.

The computer room in my primary school is not as large as the one in my new school. In the primary school, we sat two on a desk but each student here has a chair and a locker to themselves.

Christianah Adepoju

The hall in my primary school is not as big as the one in my new school. While we sat on wooden chairs in my primary school, plastic chairs and tables are used here. The similarity in the structure of both schools is the use of fence for demarcation.

There is ICT room in my new school as opposed to my primary school. It is however my wish that my new school would have air conditioners installed in the classrooms.

Rhodah Oguntoye

In my primary school, we used a white marker board but in my new school the board is more modernised. Moreso, in my former school we had our debate on Wednesdays but it is on Fridays in my new school. There is a storey building block in my new school but there is none in my former school. It is one chair and one table for two students in my former school, but in my new school we seat comfortably. Although there is a computer room in my former school, the one in my new school is better.

Idowu Daniel

In my primary school, we did not play football but we do in my present school. In my new school we have laboratory and I.C.T room.

We had only one computer in my primary school but there are many computers, which are working perfectly in my present school.

Janet Olawoyin

We participate in different competitions in my present school but not as much as that of my former school. I came to this school because we make use of computer during examinations and it has been announced that all external examinations would be computer-based.

Rachael Adeniran

There are many things that we did not have in my primary school. For example, a computer room, a hall, fans, etc. In my former school, we used chalkboard but here, we make use of white board with marker. Both schools have bookshops. We have a school bus in my present school, which we did not have in my former school. I love my new school.
