New PDP group emerges

A new group which goes by the name ‘True PDP National Movement’ has been formed, which according to the founders, has the aim of fashioning out a way forward for the cross-ridden opposition party.

Following its meeting in Abuja on Thursday, the group said it intends to work in a way to counter the propaganda embarked upon by the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) government.

In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting signed by its chairman, Abdulahi Aliyu Babawo, and the secretary, Efiedi Nkonko, it said youths from the 36 states of the federation had initially taken the decision to come together in August 2016.

It said Thursday a meeting acknowledged the efforts and contributions of the founding fathers of the PDP “in forming a formidable political party that has continuously served the interest and aspirations of the Nigerian people.

“The meeting after extensive deliberations agreed to sensitise and mobilise the Nigerian people towards the good works of the party over the years and to reject the negative propaganda embarked upon by the ruling party to tarnish the hard earned reputation of the party.”

The communiqué commended the effort of former President Goodluck Jonathan, PDP leaders and stakeholders in brokering peace towards ensuing the resolution of the leadership impasse of the party.

The meeting resolved that zonal leaders of the group should evolve strategies to improve the party in their zone taking cognizance of the peculiarities in their area.

It also said they should showcase the infrastructural achievements of the party over the years and remain loyal to the party.
